Did you know that 1 in 4 women will be a victim of interpersonal violence in their lifetime?
** Take the #DREAMSPledge of Non-Violence! **
FAMILYConnections has been helping families heal from domestic violence (DV) since 2008 through DREAMS of Essex, a program of creative arts therapies and support services for children and their parents who have experienced or witnessed domestic abuse (Learn More)
It is a DREAMS tradition to pay homage to domestic violence survivors and allies during DVAM and we invite the public to JOIN US!
Who can be involved: Everyone!
The DREAMS team has created a pledge and a promise to remain non-violent in their relationships, to continue to model safe behaviors to others and to provide services to those who need help. We ask the public to do the same.
To treat myself with respect
To treat my family and friends with respect
To stand up for those who need protection
To refrain from using all forms of violence and find a peaceful solution instead
Take the cause to social media to spread the word of non-violence. Photograph yourself or others (with their consent, of course) portraying non-violent relationships. For example: pushing your child on a swing, dancing with your partner, laughing with a friend and post to social media tagging Family Connections with the hashtag:
Throughout October 2017
Follow us on this social media journey!
