“My husband and I have a beautiful three-year-old daughter named Ella. Unfortunately, she was removed from our care because we were struggling with substance use. We hate that it had to happen this way, but it was the wake-up call we needed.
In order to see Ella at our supervised visitations, we had to commute one hour each way, twice a week. We love her so much that we would have done whatever it took to see her and bring her back home.
Thanks to our Supportive Visitation Specialist, Steven, at Family Connections, we were able to see our daughter and work towards regaining custody. Steven didn’t just sit in on our sessions, he helped us strengthen our bond with Ella and taught us new parenting skills. Even through the pandemic, Family Connections was able to provide us with virtual visitations so we could continue our visits with Ella.
My husband and I worked hard on our recovery from substance use and continued to follow up with the recommendations of the court. We were going to do anything to get Ella back and provide the best environment for her to grow up in.
Just before we completed the Supportive Visitation program at Family Connections, I found out I was pregnant! My husband and I were determined to have Ella back home with us before I gave birth.
Thanks to Family Connections remaining open throughout the pandemic and providing visitation services, Ella was reunified with us! And our second daughter, Sarah, was born a few days later! Now we have our happy, growing family together again! With the support of Family Connections, we are dedicated to being the best parents we can be to our two beautiful girls. *”
