About NJ4S-Essex

NJ4S-Essex delivers a comprehensive Service Menu of Evidence-Based Practices, targeting diverse needs and chosen with input from our Community Advisory Board made up of local students, parents, and community leaders.

NJ4S-Essex is built to inspire student success in school and life. Services include a wide range of activities for children, teens, their parents, and their educators – all to strengthen:

  • Social and emotional wellness
  • Substance use prevention
  • Sexual health and pregnancy prevention
  • Suicide prevention
  • Anti-bullying and violence prevention
  • Support for LGBTQIA+ students
  • Understanding of the impact of trauma
  • Understanding grief and the impact of loss
  • Other needs identified by local students, parents and community leaders
Tier 1services include universal prevention education to parents, educators and students of all ages throughout Essex County. 
  
  
Tier 2services include more focused group prevention programs for students, parents, and educators in grades 6-12
  
  
Tier 3services include individualized assessments and both individual
and group counseling for 6th-12th grade students and families as well
as linkage to ongoing treatment.

NJ4S-Essex’s diverse professional team is deployed throughout the County to participating public and charter schools as well as other partnering community centers.

From our Service Menu, each school or other site can pick the services most relevant to their students and families and choose the best session times to maximize ease of access and participation. We operate before, during, and after school, including evenings, weekends, and throughout the summer.

Be a Voice for Your Peers and Community

If you are a student, parent, or other community stakeholder and are ready to make a difference in your community, please consider joining our NJ4S-Essex Community Advisory Board (CAB). Meeting monthly, the CAB will be responsible for providing advice and recommendations regarding the Service Menu, program accessibility, outcome data, student engagement, and more. Students and parents on the CAB will be compensated for their time.
