Welcome to Family Connections’ ADAPT Coalition

A coalition of people who care about reducing underage drinking and substance use in Essex County. Our members include youth, parents, educators, community organizations, law enforcement, substance abuse professionals, faith-based and government representatives, and other concerned citizens.

Why ADAPT? Because throughout Essex County:

  • 90% of teens interviewed stated that alcohol is easily accessible in their area
  • More teens are reporting getting access to prescription medication that is not prescribed to them through unlocked medicine cabinets
  • Middle school and high school students are using electronic smoking devices (i.e., vapes or vaping products).
